Identify reporters automatically

Pre-fill the reporter so signed-in users are not asked for a name and email.

Updated October 2026

What it does

When the reporter is known, the widget hides the name and email fields and attaches that identity to the report. Anonymous visitors are asked for a name and email.

With JavaScript

javascript
Pinmarks.setUser({ name: 'Jane Smith', email: 'jane@acme.com' });
// On sign-out
Pinmarks.setUser(null);

Before the widget loads

Set it before the script tag so the very first open is already identified:

html
<script>
window.PinmarksConfig = {
user: { name: 'Jane Smith', email: 'jane@acme.com' },
// or: reporterName: 'Jane Smith', reporterEmail: 'jane@acme.com'
};
</script>
<script src="https://app.pinmarks.io/widget.js" data-project="proj_..." async></script>

WordPress

The WordPress plugin does this for you: with Identify logged-in users automatically on (the default), the signed-in user's display name and email are passed to the widget.
