Use PinMarks on a live production website
Collect feedback on a live site without showing the button to every visitor.
Updated October 2026
You can install the widget on production and still keep it away from the public. Open Project → Widget → Button → Button targeting.
Choose who sees the button
| You want | Use |
|---|---|
| Only your reviewers to see it | Secret URL parameter |
| No visible button at all | Hide the button, and open the widget from the keyboard or your own link |
| Only people signed in to your site or to PinMarks | Audience: only logged-in members and guests |
| Everyone | Audience: Everyone, on every page with the snippet |
Secret URL parameter
Choose Only when a secret URL parameter is added. By default the button appears when the address contains ?bug or ?feedback. You can set your own parameter. Share https://yoursite.com/?feedback with reviewers and the button appears for them only.
Hidden button
With Hide the button there is no floating button, but Cmd/Ctrl+I still opens the widget, and you can add your own link, see Use your own button.
Logged-in users only
Set the audience to Only logged-in members and guests so anonymous visitors never see the button. To pass your own users in, see Identify reporters automatically.
Keep it safe
- Use Settings → General → Widget access → Only my listed domains so other websites cannot send feedback to your project.
- Use the browser extension to reveal the widget for your team without adding any visibility rules to the page.
- Hide sensitive fields from captures with the Blur tool and the masking options in Developer tools.
